Earlier in July, we welcomed Aashini Talati into the ThreeTenSeven team as a design intern. Aashini joined us from from Nirma University, Ahmedabad, India via the University of Leeds' Masters in Advertising & Design course. Over two weeks, Aashini pitched in on TTS projects and gave us a unique insight into India's thriving agency scene. We asked her about it.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a communication designer from Mumbai, now based in Leeds. I came to Leeds to do my master’s at UoL. Prior to this, I worked as a freelance designer for a couple of years and held a full-time position at a communications consultancy. During my university years, I focused on projects related to women’s health, particularly menstruation and menopause. In my final year, I created a feature-length film exploring the perception of menopause in Indian society. My passion for women’s health and meaningful design naturally led me to apply at ThreeTenSeven.

How did you find out about ThreeTenSeven? Why did you want to do an internship here?

I was scrolling through all the job boards, as one does, and came across an opening for an account manager at ThreeTenSeven and that’s how I found the website. I really loved the work and the intent to make an impact on society via championing design/strategy in the healthcare industry. Although the opening was not for design, I am passionate about women’s health and saw an opportunity to learn something from working at TTS so I decided to send an email anyway and here I am!

How has your internship been? What have you worked on?

My internship has been fantastic! The past two weeks at the studio have been incredibly enjoyable. Everyone here is so warm and welcoming, fostering a highly creative environment where open discussions are always encouraged. During my time, I’ve worked on internal projects, a client project focused on mental health, and a women’s health initiative. Participating in client interactions and pitches has given me valuable insight into the dynamics of those big (and sometimes intimidating) meeting rooms. These experiences have significantly boosted my confidence and readiness to step into the industry as a professional designer.

What are your future aspirations?

From here on I hope to continue working in the design/advertising space constantly working on projects/designs that I can be proud of!
